Worosz earns national teaching award in rural sociology

AUFSI core faculty member Michelle Worosz, associate professor in the Department of Ag Economics and Rural Sociology, has been selected to receive the Rural Sociological Society’s 2013 Excellence in Instruction Award. The award recognizes a society member for his or her outstanding rural-oriented teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Worosz was nominated by her colleagues and students, who cited her strong commitment to teaching and, specifically, the Sociology of Natural Resources and the Environment course she has developed at Auburn. The course engages students in active learning through a direct connection with coastal Alabama. Worosz will be presented the award at the society’s annual meeting in New York in August.
